Job Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled and trend-savvy Fashion Buyer with a strong background in product development and a proven track record of 6–7 years in the fashion retail industry. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a keen eye for product, a strong commercial mindset, and hands-on experience in managing cost negotiations and cost closures to achieve target margins. The ideal candidate will be proficient in end-to-end product lifecycle management, vendor negotiations, and cross-functional collaboration with planning, and production teams to deliver high-quality, profitable collections.
Key Responsibilities :
Buying & Trend Curation
- Forecast fashion trends and consumer preferences through market research and competitive analysis.
- Curate seasonal assortments aligned with brand identity, pricing architecture, and sales targets.
- Participate in buying trips, trade shows, and vendor meetings to identify key styles and opportunities.
Product Development
Drive development of exclusive products in collaboration with vendors and tech teams.Manage the product development process from concept to production, including materials selection, fit approvals, and costing.Ensure alignment with product timelines and seasonal launch calendars.Costing & Cost Closures
Own the product costing process from prototype to final production.Negotiate costings with vendors and manufacturers to meet desired margins.Manage cost closure timelines and ensure accurate documentation for each style / SKU.Vendor Management & Sourcing
Build and maintain strong partnerships with domestic and international suppliers.Evaluate vendor performance on cost competitiveness, quality, and delivery.Work with sourcing teams to optimize supply chain and reduce lead times.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with planning, marketing, production, and sourcing to ensure smooth product execution.Contribute to visual merchandising, campaign themes, and product launches as needed.Qualifications :
6–7 years of experience in fashion buying with hands-on product development and costing experience.Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design / Merchandising or related field from NIFT / Pearl or equivalent .Strong understanding of product lifecycle, sourcing, and vendor negotiations.Demonstrated success in managing cost closures and achieving margin goals.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both internal teams and external vendors.Advanced Excel and PLM system proficiency; familiarity with retail math and costing sheets.Strong organizational and time-management skills; detail-oriented.
