Position Summary The Editor plays a central role in ensuring the clarity, accuracy, and impact of (Think Tank Name)’s publications and communications. This position works closely with researchers, fellows, and communications staff to refine policy papers, op-eds, reports, and digital content so that complex ideas are conveyed clearly, persuasively, and in line with organizational style and standards. Key Responsibilities Editorial Management : Edit, proofread, and fact-check policy reports, research papers, articles, and web content for clarity, coherence, and accuracy. Content Development : Collaborate with researchers and communications staff to shape narratives, refine arguments, and enhance accessibility of technical material for non-specialist audiences. Quality Control : Ensure that all published materials meet the organization’s editorial standards, brand guidelines, and style consistency (Chicago, AP, or house style). Project Coordination : Manage editorial workflow from draft to publication—tracking timelines, coordinating reviews, and communicating with authors and designers. Strategic Support : Advise on publication planning, messaging, and editorial priorities to strengthen the organization’s influence and visibility. Digital Integration : Support adaptation of research content for multiple formats—web, social media, newsletters, and multimedia. Mentorship : Provide editorial feedback and capacity-building guidance to junior staff and research fellows to enhance writing quality across the organization. Qualifications Required : Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Public Policy, International Relations, or a related field (Master’s preferred). 5+ years of professional editing experience, ideally in a think tank, academic, media, or policy setting. Exceptional command of written English, with strong analytical and storytelling skills. Proven ability to edit complex research into concise, compelling prose. Excellent attention to detail and project management skills. Preferred : Familiarity with policy research and major global or domestic policy debates. Experience managing editorial calendars and working with design or digital teams. Understanding of the publication process for academic or policy-oriented materials.
