Java Developer - Software Engineer - Healthcare

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Software Engineer with strong experience in the healthcare domain and deep familiarity with FHIR standards. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and integrating healthcare applications and systems that comply with interoperability standards and industry regulations.

Location : All Bristlecone locations - Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai & Noida

Work Mode : Work From Home (WFH)

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement robust, scalable software solutions for healthcare systems using modern technologies.

Work extensively with FHIR (HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) for exchanging healthcare information electronically.

Develop RESTful APIs and backend services to support interoperability between healthcare platforms.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, QA, clinical SMEs, and DevOps.

Ensure solutions meet healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA, HL7, FHIR, and CCD / CDA.

Contribute to the architecture and development of platforms that process and integrate healthcare data securely and efficiently.

Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration / delivery processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

4–7 years of experience in software development, with at least 2+ years in the healthcare IT domain.

Solid understanding of healthcare workflows (e.g., EHR, EMR, claims, labs, patient management).

Implementation exposure to healthcare workflows using FHIR Implementation Guides such as Referral Management, Imaging Solutions, Prior Authorization, Payer-to-Payer Exchange, TEFCA, International Patient Summary (IPS).

Strong hands-on experience with FHIR and other HL7 standards (e.g., CDA, CCD, v2.x).

Proficiency in Java.

Experience with REST APIs, JSON, XML, and OAuth2 / OpenID Connect.

Familiarity with SMART on FHIR, IHE profiles, or related interoperability tools is a plus.

Working knowledge of HIPAA and data privacy / security practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with major EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, Meditech).

Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

Familiarity with healthcare analytics, clinical decision support, or population health tools.

FHIR certification or relevant HL7 training is a strong plus.
