Role Purpose

To lead and supervise aluminium die casting unit production lines, ensuring smooth daily operations, achievement of production targets, improvement in yield, and adherence to quality and safety standards. The role focuses on hands-on leadership, driving shift-level performance, and ensuring effective utilization of machines, dies, and manpower.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Yield

Execute daily production plans as per schedules

Monitor machine cycles, shot weight, and process parameters to maximize yield.

Ensure optimum utilization of die casting machines, furnaces, and manpower.

Track material usage and minimize rejection, rework, and metal loss.

2. Process & Quality Control

Conduct in-process quality checks and maintain SPC records.

Identify and escalate casting defects (porosity, shrinkage, cold shut, flash, etc.).

Support tool trials and provide feedback for die modifications.

Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in coordination with Quality & Tool Room.

3. Team Supervision

Supervise supervisors, technicians, and operators across shifts.

Ensure skill-based allocation of manpower for smooth running of machines.

Train shop floor teams on cycle discipline, safety, and 5S practices.

4. Efficiency & Cost Control

Minimize idle time, breakdowns, and consumable usage.

Support initiatives on OEE improvement, cycle time reduction, and cost per kg.

Contribute to Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and TPM projects.

5. Safety & Compliance

Enforce safe operating practices and PPE compliance.

Support plant certification requirements (ISO / IATF, EMS).

Performance Metrics (KPIs )

Production adherence (% to plan).

Yield (%) = (Good Castings ÷ Total Castings) × 100.

Metal recovery ratio (%).

Rejection rate (% of total production).

OEE improvement (%).

On-time delivery (% adherence).

Energy consumption per kg of casting.

Shift discipline & manpower productivity.

Safety compliance .

Qualification & Experience

Qualification : Diploma / BE – Mechanical / Production / Metallurgy.

Experience : 8–15 years in aluminium die casting, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory / lead role.

Preferred : Experience in automotive or precision casting with IATF environment
