About the Role
The Technical Director – Energy provides strategic leadership, technical expertise, and business development support to drive the growth and delivery of energy projects within the EWE business. The role demands deep industry knowledge, client engagement, and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams toward project success.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Provide thought leadership in energy projects including renewables, grid modernization, and decarbonization.
- Ensure technical excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee feasibility studies, engineering design, modeling, and strategy.
- Act as SME for energy systems.
Project Delivery & Quality Assurance
Lead complex energy projects end-to-end.Establish project management and quality assurance frameworks.Review and approve key technical deliverables.Business Development & Client Engagement
Support growth strategies aligned with regional / global priorities.Identify new business opportunities and lead major bids.Build and maintain client relationships (public & private sector).Represent AECOM at industry events.Team Leadership & Mentoring
Build and mentor a high-performing technical team.Encourage collaboration and cross-functional support.Contribute to recruitment and capability development.Strategic Planning & Innovation
Monitor trends and technologies in the energy sector.Promote innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation.Lead knowledge-sharing and research initiatives.Qualifications & Experience
Education :
Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).Professional certification (CEng, PE, PMP, etc.) is an advantage.Experience :
20+ years in the energy sector (renewables, power systems, infrastructure).Proven leadership in large-scale projects (consulting, EPC, utilities).Strong knowledge in T&D, generation, storage, and decarbonization.Experience in financial modeling and energy policy (preferred).Excellent leadership, client engagement, and BD skills.What Makes AECOM a Great Place to Work
