Job description for Aircraft Propulsion Systems Architect for Engine Nacelles

Overview :

Full lifecycle development, integration, and certification of nacelle systems for next-generation aircraft programs. The job requires a technical expert, driving system design, ensuring compliance with aviation standards, and providing critical support for in-service fleets. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in aerospace systems engineering and a strong background in structural and mechanical design for engine nacelles.

Responsibilities :

Requirements and Architecture : Define, decompose, and manage system-level requirements for nacelles, including inlets, fan cowls, thrust reversers, and exhausts.

Design and Development :

o Serve as the responsible engineer for nacelle systems, overseeing conceptual and detailed design.

o Conduct design trade-off studies to optimize system performance, reliability, and cost.

o Utilize CAD modeling tools (e.g., CATIA) to develop and refine designs.

Systems Integration :

o Manage the integration of nacelle systems with the engine and aircraft, coordinating with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers.

o Ensure configuration management is maintained throughout the product lifecycle.

Testing and Validation :

o Develop and manage the testing and validation plans for nacelle components and systems.

o Interpret and analyze test data to verify system performance and compliance.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
• Minimum of 5–10 years of relevant experience in aerospace systems engineering, with a focus on nacelle design, development, and testing.
• Strong knowledge of nacelle systems, including inlets, fan cowls, thrust reversers, and exhausts.
• In-depth understanding of aviation regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA) and certification processes.
• Proficiency with engineering software such as CATIA, ANSYS, and MATLAB / Simulink.
