About the Role
As an HSE&C Advisor, you will be a key enabler of Castrol India's HSE&C agenda, particularly focusing on road safety and compliance . This role ensures adherence to bp's Operating Management System (OMS) and Indian regulatory requirements while helping to safeguard the safety of front-line sales teams and third-party drivers . You will lead initiatives, monitor performance, conduct training, and drive engagement, all while ensuring that road safety remains a core operational priority .
Roles & Responsibilities
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for OMS Sub Element 3.7 – Transportation, with an emphasis on road safety.
- Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of road safety policies and procedures in line with Castrol and Indian driving policies.
- Drive road safety capability-building through induction, refresher training, and awareness campaigns for internal teams and external partners.
- Ensure 100% compliance with Defensive Driving and Life Saving Rules (LSR) training requirements.
- Monitor key driver behavior metrics including speeding and harsh braking, and publish weekly / monthly performance reports.
- Support journey risk management (JRM) and ensure consistent adherence to journey planning protocols.
- Lead driving safety audits, distributor safety meets, and field inspections across sales regions.
- Conduct Driving Safety Committee meetings and maintain audit readiness in all regions.
- Manage and promote recognition programs such as the Club Zero Awards for safe drivers.
- Facilitate incident reporting and investigations using root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 WHY, 5-Step Learning).
- Analyze trends from inspections, audits, and incidents to reduce risk exposure and improve compliance.
- Ensure field inspection self-assurance processes and risk assurance activities are implemented and tracked for closure.
- Promote and support mock drills and emergency preparedness at Mumbai and Chennai offices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders including HR, Sales, Facility Management, and the Flow to Work team.
Education
University degree (or equivalent experience), preferably in a technical or HSE-related field.Formal qualifications such as NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent are desirable.Skills Required
