About the Team
The UW Governance Team is part of the Global Underwriting Centre (GUWC) within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. The GUWC is a global team of over 30 professionals located across multiple offices, operating at the core of CorSo's underwriting function and reporting directly to the CorSo Chief Underwriting Officer.
The Underwriting Governance Team is responsible for all overarching UW Governance topics within Corporate Solutions (CorSo). This includes the ownership and oversight of key governance tools, as well as the monitoring of compliance with established underwriting processes and standards. The team plays a vital role in safeguarding underwriting quality and ensuring consistency, where appropriate, across all Lines of Business and regions.
About the Role
In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for our business partners on all overarching Underwriting (UW) Governance topics within CorSo. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the UW value chain to enhance the integrity and consistency of our UW activities.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Develop, maintain, and enhance CorSo-wide Underwriting Standards in close partnership with representatives from the relevant Lines of Business (LoBs)
- Design, implement, and evolve robust UW Governance Frameworks to ensure alignment and consistency across CorSo
- Establish and refine monitoring frameworks and carry out Underwriting governance reviews
- Deliver training sessions on UW Standards, Governance Frameworks, and the use of associated tools and databases
- Serve as subject matter expert for specific UW Governance topics across all LoBs
- Contribute to the improvement of UW processes, promoting efficiency, compliance, and business alignment
- Represent CorSo Underwriting in cross-functional initiatives and projects
- Define and drive enhancements to UW Governance tools and databases
- Collaborate closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, Operations and other teams to share insights, align on governance practices, and exchange relevant data
About You
To succeed in this role, you must meet one of the following experience profiles :
Option 1 : At least 8 years of experience as a Non-Life (Re)Insurance Underwriter for large international corporate clientsOption 2 : At least 3 years of experience as a Non-Life (Re)Insurance Underwriter for large international corporate clients, plus 5 years in other relevant functions (e.g., Risk Management, Compliance, or Legal)In addition, the ideal candidate :
Has worked as Insurance or Facultative Reinsurance Property or Casualty UW for large international corporate clientsPossesses a strong general understanding of our key LoBs : Property, Engineering & Construction, General Liability, Professional Indemnity, Executive Risks, and Credit & SuretyBrings experience across various (Re)Insurance markets, offering a broad market perspectiveHas experience in Risk Management, Compliance, or Legal-related topics within the (re)insurance contextDemonstrates strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to understand partner needs, constructively challenge the status quo, and foster collaborative solutionsCommunicates clearly and effectively, even when addressing complex topicsHas a proven track record of leading or significantly contributing to complex global projects and change initiativesDisplays a natural affinity for numbers and emerging technologiesIs proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPointThrives in ambiguous and multifaceted environments, showing resilience and adaptabilityIs fluent in English, both written and spokenKeywords :
