Role Overview
The Career & University Counselor will guide students in making informed decisions regarding their higher
education and career pathways. The role involves providing one-on-one and group counseling, assisting
students in building strong academic and co-curricular profiles, and supporting them through the university
application and admission process. The Counselor will also play an active role in coordinating school clubs,
managing the IAYP program, and being part of the discipline committee.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling to students on career choices, university applications, and
academic planning.
Support students in building strong profiles by guiding them on academic enrichment,extracurricular involvement, and community service.
Offer academic guidance in alignment with IGCSE curriculum standards and student aspirations.Conduct workshops and seminars for students and parents on career awareness, universityadmissions, and evolving career trends.
Liaise with universities, educational bodies, and organizations to provide updated information onadmission requirements and scholarship opportunities.
Lead and manage school club activities, ensuring active participation and holistic development ofstudents.
Act as the Coordinator for IAYP, driving student engagement and completion of the award program.Serve as a member of the Discipline Committee, ensuring a safe and respectful learningenvironment.
Maintain detailed student records and prepare reports to track progress, achievements, andapplication outcomes.
Required Competencies & Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with students,parents, and faculty.
Sound knowledge of college and university admission processes (domestic and international).Familiarity with career development theories, practices, and psychometric assessments.Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain professional integrity.Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities including counseling,documentation, and extracurricular activities.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across departments.Qualifications & Experience
Master's degree in Psychology / Counseling / Education or a related field.Minimum 2–5 years of experience in career and university counseling, preferably in an internationalschool setup.
