We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will be leading exciting projects to modernize legacy systems and design databases for future applications, while also managing and maintaining our SQL Server databases. You’ll work closely with developers, IT, and business teams to ensure our data systems are secure, efficient, and ready for growth.
Key Responsibilities :
Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available database solutions (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Monitor and optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and storage management
Lead database capacity planning, disaster recovery strategy, and backup / restore processes
Implement and enforce database security controls including encryption, access controls, and auditing
Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support software releases and schema changes
Automate routine database operations using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools
Manage and troubleshoot replication, clustering, and failover configurations
Maintain documentation, procedures, and standards for database systems
Evaluate new database technologies and make recommendations for adoption
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
7+ years of hands-on experience in database administration, design, and performance tuning
Expertise in SQL Server, with working knowledge of other RDBMS (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL)
Strong proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and performance analysis tools
Experience with HA / DR solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication)
Solid understanding of database security, compliance (e.g., PII, PCI), and role-based access control
Proficient in automation scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash)
Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and integrating DB changes into DevOps workflows
Experience in cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a strong plus
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team setting
Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., Redgate, SolarWinds) preferred
Knowledge of NoSQL systems (e.g., Cosmos DB, MongoDB, Redis) is a plus
Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the financial services industry
