About the role
We are hiring our first product manager so this role comes with some exciting challenges (read : opportunities). But before talking about the role, let's set some context. We are a post PMF (product market fit) startup, in a hyper scaling mode. We went from We just continued listening to customers and thinking from first principles to solve customer problems.
So now why do we need a Product manager?
The scale : At a scale of 800 customers, 25 million end user data, ~10k users and 1000+ product requests, it is impossible for us to run this as a founder led product framework. So we need someone with super high ownership to manage the current playbook and product feedback
Thinking ahead of the market : As founders, we have done our bit of identifying the PMF, but we need someone who can now come in and read the market and work closely with customers / support / sales teams to identify what next for our customers - how do you implement AI into the product, how do you improve pricing of the product, how do you price the product and more.
Thinking like a customer : working closely with the customer to understand their requirements / having the empathy to understand what challenges they face and how our product can or should solve it.
Product Co-Founder : Thinking of yourself as the Co-founder at a product level and continuously improving the following metrics :
Product usage (DAU / MAU) and on other metrics that matters
NRR - Identifying how we can improve our Net Dollar retention
ACV - Identify how we can improve Average contract value of the product
Requirements :
The education background doesn’t matter. We don't care which college / school you went to. Skills and passion to build products that customers love are mandatory.
Minimum 2+ years of experience in Product management working closely with engineering teams
Experience in handling a communication platform is a very strong plus
Key Responsibilities :
Although in a startup the responsibilities are much more than what is mentioned in the job description responsibilities but still mentioning some of the day to day responsibilities
Define, execute and deliver the product roadmap to customers and internal team
Own and manage product backlog while ensuring internal and external stakeholders feedback is factored in its prioritization
We understand the difference between a project manager and a product manager but in a smaller team one has to wear multiple hats so the person would be closely working with the engineering team as well to prioritize and manage the product sprints.
All our actions are based on customer insights so setting up product analytics at every stage and defining tasks based on that
The most feedback we get is from support and sales calls so being actively involved in the feedback calls asking right questions to get right feedback (Since our customers are based in the US so it involves calls in that timezone at times).
If you want to go one step ahead in the process then reach out directly to pulkit@emitrr.com with one customer insight that you found about us from the public information available (Our website is the worst place to learn about our customers).
