Technical Manager

Onni Group is seeking a technically strong and highly organized

Technical Lead

to oversee and support the daily operations of our

offshore systems team in India . This leadership role acts as a critical bridge between Onni Group’s

Canadian systems leadership

and the

India-based software and business intelligence teams , ensuring alignment, quality, and productivity across all deliverables.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in

software development and data engineering , combined with proven experience leading offshore technical teams. This position requires both

hands-on technical expertise

and

strategic leadership

to ensure the team’s work aligns with business objectives and global standards.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Coordination

Lead, coach, and develop a cross-functional offshore team (currently 6 members across software, BI, and data).

Translate direction from Canadian System Directors into

clear work plans, tasks, and timelines

for offshore execution.

Conduct daily standups, track progress, identify risks, and drive accountability across all streams.

Foster a culture of quality, transparency, continuous improvement, and high performance.

Support hiring, onboarding, and capability building as the offshore team expands.

Delivery & Quality Oversight

Monitor task assignments and progress using

Jira

or similar project management tools.

Perform regular

code reviews, SQL / data validations, and BI / report reviews

to ensure consistency with Onni standards.

Implement structured delivery routines—status updates, retrospectives, governance calls.

Coordinate multiple workstreams to ensure timely and dependable delivery aligned with sprint goals.

Technical & Process Support

Provide hands-on support in

• .NET, SQL, Power BI, Power Apps, and Azure

technologies when required (player–coach model).

Help document, standardize, and enforce best practices for code, data handling, and reporting.

Identify and implement process efficiencies that improve productivity and quality across the offshore team.

Communication & Collaboration

Act as the primary point of contact between India and Canada, maintaining clarity in communication and expectations.

Ensure offshore team fully understands the business context, priorities, and timelines of assigned tasks.

Escalate risks, resourcing needs, and blockers proactively, with recommended mitigation steps.

Prepare concise and structured progress updates for Canadian leadership.

Business Understanding & Guidance

Develop a strong understanding of how Onni’s systems support

real estate development, construction, property management, and finance .

Guide offshore engineers to understand not just

what

to build, but

why , aligning technical work to business outcomes.

Validate offshore output for completeness, accuracy, and relevance.

Qualifications

Experience

10–14 years

of total IT / systems experience, including

4+ years

in team leadership or delivery management roles.

Demonstrated success managing

offshore or distributed technical teams .

Strong technical foundation across :

Software development :

Data engineering :

SQL, ETL / ELT, Azure Data Lake

Reporting : Power BI, SSRS, DAX

Skills

Strong project coordination experience using

Agile methodologies .

Familiarity with

Azure services, Git, CI / CD pipelines, and Jira .

Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to translate business priorities into actionable technical plans.

Confidence to challenge unclear requirements or push back when needed.

Business Knowledge

Understanding of how software, data, and reporting support

real estate development, construction, property management, and finance .

Exposure to ERP workflows (PO / AP, accounting, project costing, inventory, etc.).

Ability to translate technical issues into business-friendly language and vice versa.

Experience working across hybrid teams spanning development, BI, and data.
