Role Overview
The Construction Manager will lead and oversee all site construction activities for a large-scale chemical greenfield project. The role involves managing multidisciplinary construction works, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives while coordinating with engineering, procurement, and project management teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project & Site Management
- Lead end-to-end construction execution for the chemical greenfield project.
- Prepare and implement construction execution plans, work schedules, resource plans, and site logistics.
- Ensure construction progresses as per approved drawings, specifications, and standards.
2. Technical & Execution Oversight
Supervise civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and structural works.Review and validate method statements, ITPs, and risk assessments.Ensure compliance with chemical industry construction norms, environmental guidelines, and statutory approvals.3. Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination
Manage and coordinate contractors, subcontractors, and vendors at site.Conduct daily / weekly progress meetings and address bottlenecks.Interface with engineering teams, procurement, QA / QC, HSE, and client representatives.4. Safety & Quality Assurance
Enforce strict adherence to HSE practices, especially for chemical / process plant environments.Ensure quality compliance through inspections, audits, and documentation.Lead incident investigations and corrective action planning.5. Schedule, Cost & Reporting
Monitor progress vs. plan and implement corrective measures for delays.Control construction costs, manpower, and material consumption at site.Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for project management.6. Commissioning & Handover Support
Support pre-commissioning and commissioning teams.Ensure punch list closure, documentation, and final handover of completed facilities.Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of EPC construction methodologies for chemical / process plants.Expertise in site planning, resource management, scheduling, and risk mitigation.Well-versed in safety standards : OSHA, OISD, chemical handling norms, etc.Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.Ability to manage multi-disciplinary contractors in a fast-paced project environment.Qualifications
