Job Description : IBDP Language and Literature Teacher Location : Sector 70A, Gurgaon and Lucknow
Position Overview
The IBDP Language & Literature Teacher will deliver high-quality learning experiences aligned with the IB Diploma Programme framework. The teacher is responsible for fostering critical thinking, textual analysis, effective communication, and global perspectives through the study of a wide range of literary and non-literary texts. The role requires deep understanding of IB pedagogy, assessment criteria, and inquiry-based learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Teach IBDP Language and Literature (Language A) to Grades 11–12 using concept-based, inquiry-driven strategies.
Design and deliver engaging lessons that develop students’ analytical, interpretive, and communication skills.
Guide students in their exploration of literary, media, and cultural texts from diverse global contexts.
Prepare students for all IBDP assessments.
Curriculum & Assessment
Develop unit plans and learning experiences aligned with IB DP Language A curriculum requirements.
Create, administer, and grade formative and summative assessments using IB rubrics.
Provide clear, constructive feedback to support student growth.
Maintain accurate records of progress and ensure readiness for internal and external IB assessments.
Participate in curriculum review and contribute to school-wide literacy initiatives.
Student Support
Offer individualized academic guidance, including support for IA and exam preparation.
Monitor and support the overall well-being and engagement of students.
Communicate regularly with parents / guardians regarding progress and concerns.
Professional Development & School Engagement
Participate in IB training workshops (Category 1 / 2 / 3) and ongoing professional development.
Attend departmental and whole-school meetings, contributing to collaborative planning and pedagogical improvement.
Contribute to co-curricular and extracurricular activities such as debate clubs, reading circles, theatre productions, or writing competitions.
Support whole-school events and initiatives in alignment with the IB philosophy.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Linguistics, or a related field.
Recognized teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent).
Experience teaching IBDP Language A : Language & Literature or equivalent senior-level English curriculum.
Strong understanding of inquiry-based learning and concept-driven instruction.
Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
IB-certified training in Language A (DP Category 1 / 2).
Experience teaching both SL and HL groups.
