Role Summary
The Technical Architect (TA) serves as a senior technical leader responsible for defining, governing, and guiding the overall technology architecture across the organization. The role ensures that all systems, applications, and platforms align with business strategy, scalability requirements, security standards, and future technology direction.
This position blends strategic planning with hands-on architecture, providing thought leadership and technical oversight across enterprise systems, integration platforms, cloud infrastructure, and digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Architecture Strategy
- Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap, aligning IT capabilities with business objectives and long-term digital transformation goals.
- Define and implement architecture standards, reference models, and frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, ITIL).
- Assess emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies to drive innovation and competitiveness.
- Ensure architectural alignment across business units, applications, data, and infrastructure layers.
- Solution Architecture Governance
- Lead solution architecture reviews for large-scale initiatives, ensuring compliance with enterprise architecture standards and technical best practices
- Evaluate proposed designs for scalability, security, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Establish governance models for technology decision-making, documentation, and change management.
- Collaborate with project managers and delivery teams to ensure architecture implementation fidelity.
- Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, product, and operations teams to design and deliver robust, integrated systems.
- Mentor solution architects, software engineers, and technical leads on architecture principles and patterns.
- Act as the technical liaison between business stakeholders, software vendors, and implementation partners.
- Influence executive stakeholders with clear, technology-driven business cases.
- Cloud, Integration, and Infrastructure Architecture
- Define enterprise-wide standards for cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP), hybrid environments, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Oversee data architecture and integration frameworks (APIs, microservices, message queues, ESB).
- Ensure systems are designed for high availability, performance, and disaster recovery.
- Optimize cloud resource utilization and cost management strategies.
- Security, Compliance & Risk Management
- Incorporate security, privacy, and compliance (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2) into all architecture decisions.
- Work with security architects to ensure proper identity, access management, and encryption practices.
- Perform architecture risk assessments and ensure alignment with enterprise governance models.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in AI, ML, blockchain, edge computing, and DevSecOps.
- Identify modernization opportunities for legacy systems.
- Promote adoption of automation, DevOps, and CI / CD practices.
Required Qualifications
Education :Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.(MBA or advanced certifications preferred.)Experience :10–15+ years in IT, including at least 5 years in architecture or technical leadership roles.Proven experience designing enterprise-scale systems, applications, and infrastructure.Track record of leading cross-functional architecture teams and complex transformation projects.Technical Expertise :Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman).Expertise in cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or GCP architecture certification preferred).Proficiency in microservices, API design, integration patterns, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).Knowledge of data platforms, ETL pipelines, data lakes, and analytics solutions.Familiarity with DevOps, CI / CD, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).Understanding of cybersecurity principles, zero-trust architectures, and network design.Preferred CertificationsTOGAF 9 / 10 CertifiedAWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional / Azure Solutions Architect Expert / Google professional cloud ArchitectITIL Foundation or PractitionerCertified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalentSAFe Architect or similar Agile certification
