About our team

Regional Operations | Ac West | Operations West | Various

The ABF works collaboratively across the Home Affairs Portfolio and with domestic and international partners to identify, deter, disrupt, detect and manage border risks.

Irregular and Intermittent Employees (IIEs / Casual) are employed with the ABF at the APS2 classification and assist frontline operational teams to meet peaks associated with the movement of people and goods across the border. IIEs are predominantly required to work at international airports to alleviate pressure on existing teams during periods of increased flight departures and arrivals. They are also utilised to work in teams dealing Maritime, Air Cargo as well as general administration areas. The work undertaken is mainly outside of standard business hours.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide basic administration support under guidance

  • These roles are frontline roles which require officers to wear the ABF uniform and represent the ABF professionally in the public domain. Officers must be capable of interacting with members of the community and foreign visitors.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

    The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and :

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
  • In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
