The Jiv Daya Foundation is seeking a qualified medical professional (MBBS / MD) with experience or strong interest in Rheumatology to lead and manage its India Rheumatology Initiative. This program supports government medical colleges and public hospitals across India by improving access to biologics and advanced therapies for young patients with rheumatologic conditions.
The Medical Officer will oversee clinical assessments, review patient eligibility, coordinate treatment approvals, and ensure optimal management of supported patients. This role requires close collaboration with treating rheumatologists, department heads, and program teams to strengthen quality of care and identify opportunities to enhance the initiative.
Primary Responsibilities
Clinical Review & Patient Management
- Review patient profiles from partner institutions and assess eligibility for therapy support (e.g., biologics such as Adalimumab, Tocilizumab, Rituximab).
- Provide medical guidance on treatment initiation, continuation, or modification based on clinical condition, response, and safety considerations.
- Ensure appropriateness of diagnosis, investigations, and documentation as per program requirements.
- Support monitoring of treatment outcomes, adverse events, and follow-up schedules.
Coordination with Treating Physicians
Serve as the primary liaison with rheumatologists, pediatric rheumatologists, and physicians at government medical colleges.Discuss complex cases and provide second-opinion support when requested.Facilitate rapid turnaround of approvals and ensure efficient communication between the Foundation and clinical teams.Program Oversight & Quality Improvement
Identify gaps in clinical care processes, documentation, or follow-up and recommend improvements.Contribute to the development and refinement of therapy guidelines, scoring frameworks, and decision-support tools.Ensure timely delivery and optimal utilization of medicines under the program.Conduct periodic virtual or on-site assessments to evaluate program performance and adherence to standards.Data, Reporting & Insights
Maintain updated patient databases, treatment logs, and monitoring dashboards.Analyze clinical and program data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities.Prepare structured reports and recommendations to support program decisions.Qualifications
MBBS (required); MD / DNB in Internal Medicine or RheumatologyExperience or clinical exposure in Rheumatology or Immunology strongly preferred.Strong understanding of rheumatologic diseases (JIA, RA, SLE, vasculitis, spondyloarthropathies) and familiarity with biologic therapies.Ability to review case histories, interpret lab / imaging findings, and make evidence-based recommendations.Travel Requirement
Up to 30–40% travel for visits to partner hospitals, review meetings, and program assessments.
