Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Telecom Application Support Engineer with 2–3 years of experience in supporting and managing telecom VAS applications, SMS / USSD systems, and related telecom protocols.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in Linux environments, debugging issues using tools like Wireshark / tcpdump, and working with databases and APIs.
Key Responsibilities
Telecom Application Support & Integration
Provide support for SMS & USSD-based applications , including configuration, troubleshooting, and integration.
Work with SMPP-based messaging systems for SMS delivery and routing.
Assist in integrating telecom systems with charging platforms (OCS / OFCS) and ensure service continuity.
System & Protocol Knowledge
Basic understanding of telecom signaling protocols such as SS7, SCTP , and Diameter.
Support authentication, authorization, and accounting workflows in telecom environments.
Monitor application performance and logs to identify issues in real time.
Linux & System Administration
Work extensively on Linux-based servers for configuration, log analysis, and troubleshooting.
Identify and resolve system-level issues related to applications, permissions, ports, and services.
API & Database Handling
Support API integrations over HTTP / HTTPS for various telecom services.
Perform basic database operations and queries in MySQL or Oracle .
Assist with performance checks and database troubleshooting.
Debugging & Monitoring
Use tools like Wireshark, tcpdump for analyzing protocol traffic and debugging.
Work with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix , or equivalent for alerts and performance metrics.
Cloud & Container Exposure
Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP (basic level).
Basic understanding of Kubernetes / container orchestration is preferred.
Client Interaction
Interact with customers for L1 / L2 support, troubleshooting, deployments, and status updates.
Participate in technical discussions and coordinate for issue resolution.
Required Skills
2–3 years of experience in telecom application support or similar domain.
Good understanding of SMS / USSD applications , SMPP, and telecom charging integrations.
Strong knowledge of Linux commands, log analysis, process monitoring, and service management .
Basic understanding of SS7, SCTP, Diameter , and related signaling concepts.
Experience with MySQL / Oracle for running queries and basic tuning.
Ability to use Wireshark / tcpdump for traffic and protocol debugging.
Familiarity with HTTP / HTTPS APIs and authentication mechanisms.
Exposure to AWS / Azure / GCP and Kubernetes (good to have).
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Knowledge of microservices architecture.
Understanding of Docker.
Exposure to DevOps or CI / CD tools.
Soft Skills
Good communication and client-handling abilities.
Ownership mindset with attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced telecom environment.
