Position : Workday HCM Lead – Practice Builder (Chennai)

Location : Chennai, India

Role Summary :

We are seeking a visionary Workday HCM Lead to spearhead the growth of our Chennai office as a center of excellence for Workday delivery. This is a unique opportunity for a senior Workday professional to combine hands-on project leadership with strategic practice-building responsibilities. You will lead complex client-facing initiatives while simultaneously recruiting, mentoring, and developing a high-performance Workday team in India.

This role is ideal for someone who is ready to take ownership, influence the direction of a growing organization, and build a legacy within the Workday ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities :

Workday Delivery & Client Leadership

Lead end-to-end Workday HCM and integration projects across modules such as EIB, Studio, Core Connectors, PECI / PICOF, and custom reporting .

Act as solution architect on key engagements, ensuring scalable, high-quality delivery aligned with client objectives.

Collaborate directly with clients to gather business requirements, translate them into functional and technical solutions, and manage expectations.

Oversee Workday AMS engagements, including incident management, enhancements, and release planning.

Manage integration landscapes for enterprise clients across verticals including Pharma, Energy, Healthcare, and BFSI .

Practice Building & Team Enablement

Play a foundational role in building the Chennai Workday delivery hub , including hiring, onboarding, and developing a local team.

Design and deliver structured internal training programs across Workday tools and methodologies (e.g., Studio, CCW, EIB, Security, Reporting).

Create hands-on learning content, sandbox simulations, and documentation to accelerate team readiness.

Mentor junior and mid-level consultants through regular feedback, code reviews, and continuous development pathways.

Partner with leadership to define scalable delivery frameworks, best practices, and career paths for Workday talent within AssistNow.

Requirements

Experience & Skills Required :

7+ years of experience in HCM technology with at least 5 years in Workday integrations and / or HCM functional areas .

Proven experience leading Workday projects end-to-end (Integrations, HCM, AMS).

Proficiency in integration tools such as Workday Studio, EIB, CCW, DT, XML / XSLT , and custom reporting .

Strong grasp of Workday security, business object model, and integration architecture .

Prior experience in building or leading a team and / or a regional practice is highly preferred.

Workday certifications (Studio, Core Connectors) are a plus but not mandatory with equivalent expertise.

Excellent communication and client engagement skills.

Bonus : Experience with PeopleSoft HRMS or other legacy HCM platforms.

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology , or a related field.
