Job Summary :
The ServiceNow Developer is responsible for designing, developing, configuring, and customizing the ServiceNow platform to meet business requirements.
The role involves implementing workflows, integrations, dashboards, automation, and developing new modules while ensuring platform stability, performance, and compliance with best practices.
The developer works closely with process owners, business analysts, and IT teams to deliver scalable and high-quality ServiceNow solutions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design and develop custom applications, modules, forms, UI policies, scripts, and workflows in ServiceNow.
- Create and modify business rules, client scripts, UI actions, notifications, access controls, and data policies.
- Develop and implement catalog items, record producers, service portals, and request workflows.
- Customize core modules such as Incident, Problem, Change, Asset, CMDB, Knowledge, and Service Catalog.
- Configure platform components including tables, fields, views, ACLs, workflows, and service levels.
- Maintain the CMDB, discovery schedules, and service mapping updates (if applicable).
- Manage system upgrades, patches, and version migrations ensuring backward compatibility.
- Build and maintain integrations using REST, SOAP, MID Server, IntegrationHub, and third-party APIs.
- Handle data imports, transformations, and automation of data flows.
- Troubleshoot integration issues and ensure secure, reliable data exchange.
- Create automated solutions using Flow Designer, Workflow Editor, and Orchestration modules.
- Optimize platform performance by writing efficient, scalable scripts (JavaScript, Glide API, GlideAjax, etc.
- Implement automation for IT service management (ITSM), IT operations management (ITOM), HRSD, SecOps, or other modules.
- Conduct unit testing, regression testing, and validation of developed functionalities.
- Ensure all configurations and customizations adhere to coding standards and best practices.
- Support UAT and debugging across environments.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including design specs, solution architecture diagrams, test plans, and release notes.
- Ensure compliance with ITIL, governance policies, and security standards.
- Maintain change records and version control for all development activities.
- Work with business analysts, process owners, and IT teams to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Participate in scrum meetings, sprint planning, retrospectives, and release management.
- Support end users through training and technical assistance when needed.
Required Skills & Competencies :
Strong hands-on expertise in JavaScript and Glide scripting.Experience customizing core ServiceNow applications and modules.Knowledge of ITIL v4 processes and implementation.Proficiency in Flow Designer, Workflow Editor, and IntegrationHub.Experience with Service Portal development (HTML, CSS, AngularJS optional).Understanding of API integrations (REST / SOAP) and data manipulation.Experience with CMDB, Discovery, or Service Mapping (optional but preferred).Familiarity with Agile / Scrum development methodologies(ref : hirist.tech)
