About the role

Transformation – Customer & Operations (Metal & Mining) is a part of the Business Consulting practice of KPMG.

Transformation – Customer & Operations (Metal & Mining) advisory practice assists metal & mining clients in their business transformation journey, enabling clients to make the informed business decisions. The practice advises clients on core business issues such as enhancing revenues, optimizing costs and improving efficiencies, with a focus on growing revenue and EBITDA. The practice plays a pivotal role in implementing solutions, working with CXO’s and anchoring their overall business agenda.

Within Customer & Operations practice, we are currently hiring for team members who will advise clients and help them drive Operations Excellence including, but not limited to, Supply Chain optimization, Manufacturing Excellence, Procurement cost optimization. The team members will deliver engagements for clients in India across all industries, providing services such as :

  • EBITDA Improvement including Cost Reduction, Revenue Enhancement
  • Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Operations Excellence
  • Digital Transformation
  • Procurement Transformation
  • Logistics Optimization
  • Policy Advisory (Mining Industry)
  • Bid Process Advisory

What you will do

Client management and engagement delivery

  • Understand the client needs and expectations based on interactions with key stakeholders and C-Suite
  • Develop strong relationships with client stakeholders (e.g. Promoters, Board members, C-Suite, Functional Heads amongst others) and influence the client with deep subject matter expertise / thought leadership / quality and depth of analysis
  • Independently manage engagement delivery - building a customized approach for the engagement, bringing in the best practices from the sector / Firm, building compelling and differentiated value propositions, driving project delivery through the team, and driving effective implementation of desired outcomes
  • Business development

  • Understand the future needs of the client and identify the right solution for the next engagement with the client
  • Develop technical and commercial proposals to meet client needs
  • Project management

  • Manage project budgeting, operational metrics, financing, resourcing, risk compliances and overall project health
  • People management

  • Define clear expectations for each of the team members on roles, deliverables, and timelines, and keeping them motivated and ensuring their well-being during project delivery
  • Identify learning and development needs of team and provides coaching, mentoring and stretch assignments to attract, develop and retain our most talented colleagues.
  • Develop and enhance career path of appraisees through identification of relevant opportunities that align with the goals set / defined
  • Clear communication of expectations, goals and path alongside areas of improvement and key initiatives to be undertaken
  • Internal initiatives & compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Firm's processes and policies such as Goal setting, performance development, L&D, timesheets, risk processes etc.
  • Participate in and lead firm initiatives – L&D, recruitment, and thought leaderships

  • Qualification / Skill / Experience

  • 2 years full time MBA / PGDM from a premier Business School such as IIMs (A, B, C, L, I and K), ISB Hyderabad, XLRI Jamshedpur, SP Jain Mumbai, FMS Delhi, Symbiosis, NMIMS etc.
  • Mining Engineering from a reputed institute ISM, Dhanbad / IIT Kharagpur / IIEST Shibpur / IIT BHU / NIT Raipur / NIT Nagpur / NIT Rourkela etc.
  • Minimum 15+ years of relevant experience including industry and management consulting with preferably :
  • Big 4 / other international business consulting Firms of which at least 10 years' in Operations / Supply Chain Consulting / Business Consulting practice
  • Deep understanding of Mining value chain including coal, ferrous, non-ferrous, critical minerals; good understanding of Metals value chain including steel, aluminium, copper etc.
  • Experience in the area of EBIDTA improvement (cost reduction, revenue enhancement, supply chain excellence), digital strategy & transformation, business transformation, policy advisory and bid process advisory with deep operational experience
  • Experience of leading successful projects and managing high performing team
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships
  • Location : Mumbai
