About the Role

The Lead Devops Engineer role is expected to lead strategy, planning and execution of initiatives to bridge the business and engineering goals producing outcomes through technology and process transformation initiatives based on the fast-paced cloud native technology space. The role will be leading KPIs, projects, team members along with individual contribution and cross-teams collaborations efforts to achieve the overall team objectives. The role involves wearing multiple hats adapting to organization needs to enhance reliability, security, performance, scalability and productivity of systems and services. The role scope includes participation in various domains of continuous deployment, incident response, Infra / Service / Data security assurance, capacity planning, cost optimization, Tooling / automation, platform architecture optimization, Observability, change velocity improvement and SDLC process optimizations. The role also encouraged in cloud native technology trend adoption for our platform running completely on cloud and integrated with a variety of systems and toolsets enhancing our experience.

Responsibilities

As a lead engineer, own specific team KPI starting with strategy, technical scope, projects planning, implementation tracking and delivering the outcome with data driven results published based on the technology roadmap of the team to support the success of the organization and our clients.

Be responsible for direct reports’ outputs, productivity, upskilling and alignment towards technology and business roadmap to support the success of the organization and our clients.

Work with stakeholders to drive the projects till it reaches the desired outcome.

Take the lead in driving projects in security and platform engineering space to reach enterprise grade capabilities.

Contribute to architecture design review and implementation a in a simplified, secure, modular, loosely coupled and optimal capacity architecture.

Ensure IAC and Git-ops methodologies are fully integrated with the platform operations and CI / CD pipeline implementation.

Own monitoring and observability capabilities for a highly granular traceability across legacy and new products as per business.

Own process and regulation optimization to improve team capability, efficiency and cross team cooperation.

Own architecture, change request, reliability and security framework reviews followed to run on a highly robust platform.

Coaching, Mentor, guide and support the junior engineers and collaborate with fellow seniors to help achieve team KPI / SLA.

Document everything and in a way useful to fellow team members.

Ensure blameless postmortem is published across engineering teams for each incident and remediation executed to eliminate the risk of incident recurrence.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or master’s in computer science, Information Technology, Electronics & communication Engineering or a relevant field.

8+ years of experience in Platform Engineering / SRE / Devops domain as individual contributor and lead role for the team owning reliability of cloud and cloud native products.

Hands-on exposure to Agile methodology, Scrum / Kanban, Git-ops methodology.

Hands-on experience and knowledge of AWS Compute, Databases, Network services, Docker / Kubernetes based microservice architecture.

Hands-on experience in System admin in Linux, DB / DB Optimization of MySQL / Postgres RDBMS, Mongo NoSQL DB.

Hands-on experience in ETL products like spark job, AWS Glue, Airflow.

Hands-on experience in developing tools / scripts for automation using shell / python and coding in Terraform / Ansible, JS / Golang / Java.

Hands-on experience in creating and managing CI / CD pipeline for build and release automation.

Hands-on experience in security vulnerability detection and fixing in platform and products.

Hands-on experience in Metrics, logging and tracing using observability products on open telemetry frameworks / Datadog / ELK / AWS security tools or any industry standard SIEM tools.

Hand-on in project / task management tools such as Jira / Confluence with experience in writing postmortem, knowledge transfer documents.

Experience in with geographically distributed cross teams such as developers, QA, Security, IT, Product and Business analysts, client success managers, etc.

• Exposure to product and platform optimization initiatives such as POCs, rearchitecting legacy systems, etc.
