Software Development Engineer in Testing

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced SDET to design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks and lead testing initiatives across UI, API, and backend systems. The ideal candidate should have strong test automation expertise using Playwright with TypeScript , along with solid manual testing capabilities for scenarios where automation is not feasible.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Testing

Develop, enhance, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Playwright (TypeScript) .

Automate UI, API (REST), and backend tests with high reliability and performance.

Integrate automated test suites into CI / CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins).

Optimize automation suites for speed, stability, and maintainability.

Manual Testing

Design and execute manual test cases for complex scenarios not suited for automation.

Perform exploratory testing to identify edge cases, usability issues, and unexpected behavior.

Validate bug fixes, perform regression cycles, and ensure test coverage.

Document defects with complete reproduction steps, logs, and evidence using JIRA or similar tools.

Collaboration & Leadership

Work closely with developers to enable shift-left testing and improve application testability.

Participate in requirement and design reviews to identify test scenarios early.

Mentor junior team members in both automation and manual testing best practices.

Core Skills & Requirements

6+ years of experience in SDET / test automation

70% Automation + 30% Manual Testing

Strong automation skills in :

Playwright

JavaScript / TypeScript

API (REST) testing

CI / CD : Git, Jenkins

Strong manual testing expertise :

Test case design & execution

Exploratory & regression testing

Defect logging and documentation

Good understanding of Agile methodologies

Hands-on experience with collaboration tools : JIRA, Confluence
