Material Scientist -Sports Goods & Footwear

Location : Madurai

CTC : As per market standards and based on the current salary

Education : Masters degree (M.Sc. / M.Tech) in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or a related discipline.

Role Overview

This role is responsible for leading the selection, development, and testing of advanced materials to enhance the performance, durability, and sustainability of sports goods and footwear. The position drives innovation by combining scientific expertise with cross-functional collaboration to deliver next-generation products backed by measurable improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Identify, test, and develop optimal materials (polymers, composites, metals, textiles, rubber, coatings, leather) for sports equipment and footwear.

• Establish performance benchmarks and validate improvements through measurable data against current and competitor products.
• Conduct material testing and analysis (tensile, impact, fatigue, durability, etc.) to ensure reliability and compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with marketing to integrate consumer insights into material innovation strategies.
• Partner with design and production teams to translate research into scalable, manufacturable products.
• Drive innovation initiatives including patents, technical publications, and new product launches.
• Explore and evaluate sustainable and eco-friendly material options to align with organizational sustainability goals.
• Engage with suppliers, laboratories, and external collaborators for advanced material sourcing, testing, and validation.
