ROLE OVERVIEW :
The Manufacturing Systems Engineer plays a critical role in enabling highly automated, efficient, and world-class semiconductor wafer fabrication operations. This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and supporting manufacturing information systems—including MES, dispatching / scheduling engines, WIP management tools, data integration platforms, and reporting dashboards.
The ideal candidate understands fab workflows, is skilled in system integration, and can collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, CIM, IT, and Quality teams to ensure smooth manufacturing execution and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. MES & Manufacturing System Support
- Support day-to-day operations of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and interconnected fab-wide manufacturing support systems like FDC, APC, OCAP, RMS, TMS, ERP, RTD, AMHS, etc.
- You will be responsible for one or more manufacturing systems.
- In this role, you will lead and collaborate with IT and other relevant stakeholders and end-users for developing requirements, enabling a high-performance robust system, training and continual improvements
- Ensure system stability, performance, and high availability for 24x7 fab operations.
2. System Integration & Automation
Integrate MES with factory automation systems (AMHS), equipment interfaces (SECS / GEM, EDA), engineering systems, ERP, CRM, Quality / Test systems, and reporting platforms.Collaborate with IT teams on data flows, system architecture, and interface reliability.Develop or support solutions for automated decision-making, workflow automation, and rule-based processing.3. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Analyze WIP movement, cycle time, bottlenecks, and system performance to identify improvement opportunities.Partner with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Industrial Engineering on optimizing fab operations.Develop tools, scripts, dashboards, or applications to improve visibility, reduce cycle time, and enhance throughput.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, RCA, OEE improvements).4. Issue Resolution & Root Cause Analysis
Respond to manufacturing system issues impacting production.Perform structured troubleshooting across MES, dispatching logic, system interfaces, and fab workflow logic.Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).Document all changes, issues, and improvements in a controlled environment.5. Project Execution
Support deployment of new MES modules, upgrades, and system enhancements.Lead / participate in fab ramp readiness activities including route setup, automation readiness, system testing, and cutovers.Coordinate with cross-functional teams and external vendors for deployments and validations.Ensure proper documentation, version control, and adherence to change management processes.ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES :
Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, WIP movement, equipment workflows, and fab operations.Good grasp of manufacturing systems architecture—MES, interfaces, automation, and data systems.Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume manufacturing environment.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Team player with proactive learning and a continuous improvement mindset.Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and support activities in a 24x7 fab environment.Familiarity with scripting or automation tools (Python, SQL, shell scripting) is a plus.QUALIFICATION :
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.PREFFERED EXPERIENCE :
3–10 years of experience in semiconductor fabs in roles such as :Manufacturing Systems / MES EngineerCIM / Factory Automation EngineerIndustrial EngineeringWIP / Dispatch EngineeringProduction / Manufacturing EngineeringExperience with global MES platforms (e.g., SiView MES , or similar).Exposure to factory automation environments, AMHS, equipment integration, dispatching / scheduling logic.Knowledge of SEMI standards (SECS / GEM, EDA, E40, E90) is advantageous.Experience with data analytics tools or software development is a plus.
