Role

The Design Release Engineer for Driveline will be responsible for translating customer requirements, both stated and unstated, into product specifications, ensuring that all designs meet driveline industry standards and best practices. This role involves leading cross-functional teams, ensuring systematic design and development approaches, conducting stakeholder meetings, and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all released products. The safety, quality, and performance of the product must be prioritized, with timely escalation of any risks. The engineer will also develop DFMEA, ADVP&R, and coach the team to achieve successful product releases.

Primary Responsibilities

• Translate customer requirements into detailed product requirements and specifications.
• Design and develop driveline products that adhere to industry best practices.
• Ensure all designs meet DFX requirements such as DFA (Design for Assembly) and DFM (Design for Manufacturing).
• Conduct stakeholder meetings with a clear agenda and maintain detailed meeting minutes.
• Develop and maintain DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) for all released products.
• Ensure product safety is a priority; escalate any risks or compromises promptly.
• Lead the cross-functional team (CFT) to achieve a sound and quality product release.
• Maintain a systematic and methodical approach to the design and development process.
• Provide training and coaching to CFT members regarding the product.
• Develop ADVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) for the product.
• Apply knowledge of OBJ and IBJ design, including application differences and suitability.
• Use in-depth knowledge of boots, axles, and splines in product design and development.
• Apply sizing tools for strength and durability prediction.
• Conduct thorough analysis of field failures and implement corrective & preventive measures.
• Witness and understand various tests at both component and vehicle levels.
