VFX Finishing Artist

Role & Responsibilities :

1) Compositing for Film / TV Projects :

o Integrate various elements, including live-action plates, CG assets, and matte paintings, to create the final shot.

o Perform color, tone, and contrast adjustments to achieve a photorealistic and aesthetically pleasing final image.

o Execute essential technical tasks such as cleanup, wire / rig removal, screen replacements, and 2D / 3D tracking / matchmove.

2) Ensure Quality and Consistency :

o Deliver output that meets the artistic vision and technical requirements set by the Director and VFX Supervisor.

o Maintain the project's visual style and consistency across all assigned shots.

o Troubleshoot technical issues and propose creative solutions to enhance the visual quality of the shots.

3) Collaboration and Time Management :

o Work closely with other members of the VFX team.

o Efficiently complete assigned shots within strict deadlines.

o Process and implement technical reviews and feedback on your work.

Required Skills :

Technical Proficiency :

o Deep understanding and expert proficiency in compositing using Nuke is mandatory.

o Extensive experience with Rotoscoping, Paint, Keying, and Grading techniques.

o Proficiency with 2D / 3D tracking and stabilization tools (e.G., Mocha, NukeX).

o Proficiency in secondary compositing software like After Effects or Fusion in addition to Nuke.

o Working knowledge of color management systems (e.G., ACES) and related workflows.

o Experience with Python / TCL scripting to automate Nuke workflows or create custom tools.

o Familiarity with 3D software (e.G., Maya, Houdini) or a deep understanding of rendering passes (e.G., Arnold, V-Ray).

Experience and Education :

o Minimum of 8+ years of professional experience as a Compositor in VFX, Animation, or a related field.

o A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.

• Attributes :

o Excellent eye for detail and strong visual artistic sense.

o Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex visual information.

o Proven ability to manage stress and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.

o (Plus) Basic understanding of rendering pipelines and the overall CG workflow.
