Role Overview
The Rigging & 3D Animation Faculty will be responsible for teaching core skills in character
rigging, body mechanics, acting animation, and production workflows. The role focuses on
building strong foundations in rig creation and high-quality 3D animation performance for
students.
Key Responsibilities
A. Teaching & Skill Development
- Conduct classes, labs, and demonstrations in :
- Character Rigging (biped, quadruped, facial rigs)
- Body Mechanics Animation
- Acting & Performance Animation
- Creature Animation (preferred)
- Skinning, weight painting, and deformation
- Rig testing and pipeline fundamentals
- Prepare teaching material, assignments, and assessments.
B. Student Mentoring & Project Supervision
Guide students in rigging-based projects and 3D animation assignments.Assist students in creating strong demo reels for internships and placements.Mentor teams for film projects, competitions, and industry events.C. Curriculum & Academic Development
Suggest updates to rigging and animation modules as per industry standards.Integrate new tools, plugins, and workflows used in modern studios.D. Departmental Support
Support events, masterclasses, exhibitions, and industry interactions.Contribute to academic documentation and quality assurance processes.3. Required Skills & Software Expertise
Strong working knowledge of :
Autodesk Maya (primary)
Rigging Tools : Advanced Skeleton, mGear, or custom rig workflows
Deformation & Skinning techniques
Animation principles, timing, posing, and performance
Basic Python / MEL scripting is an added advantage.
Understanding of production pipeline and troubleshooting.
4. Qualifications
Master’s degree in Animation / Design / Fine Arts / related field.Minimum 2–5 years of industry experience in rigging and / or 3D animation.Teaching experience preferred but not mandatory.5. Desirable Attributes
