Tax Accountant II

Responsibilities :

Perform fuel and excise tax related accounting tasks as assigned

Prepare fuel and excise tax return workpapers, forms and resulting payment request in compliance with multiple regulatory jurisdictions

Responsible for general ledger entries and reconciliations of assigned tax liabilities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices

Compile audit documentation as needed

Research filing discrepancies and communicate issues to management to ensure accurate accounting for tax accruals and related ledger activity

Conform and adhere to internal controls over tax accounting procedures as set forth by upper management.

Experience needed to succeed :

1 to 3 years of Indirect tax reporting, accounting and reconciliation experience in a corporate environment, specifically related to U.S. motor fuel and excise tax

Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook)

Advanced Excel skills (i.e. x-lookups, sumifs, pivot tables)

Familiarity with Power BI a huge plus

Ability to multi-task and complete projects within specific deadlines

Strong computer, presentation and organizational skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
