Role Overview

Sancta Maria is seeking a passionate and experienced IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator to lead the continued development and delivery of the PYP across the primary school. This is both a leadership and mentoring role, and may include some classroom teaching depending on the candidates background and school needs.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, forward-thinking educator with a strong understanding of the IB philosophy and inquiry-based learning, capable of leading curriculum implementation and supporting teacher development within a diverse international team.

Key Responsibilities

As PYP Coordinator :

Provide strategic leadership for the PYP across all grade levels

Ensure effective implementation of the IB PYP in accordance with IB standards and practices

Facilitate collaborative planning among teachers and promote best practices in inquiry-based learning

Guide curriculum review and alignment processes, including development of scope and sequences

Oversee the PYP action plan and support preparations for evaluation visits

Lead regular professional development and IB workshops for teaching staff

Liaise with the IB and act as the point of contact for all PYP-related communication

Support teachers in designing transdisciplinary units, assessments, and student exhibitions

Foster a school-wide culture of reflection, growth, and continuous improvement

Candidate Profile

Bachelors degree in Education or a related field (Masters preferred)

Teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed., PGCE, state certification)

Minimum 3 years experience in an IB PYP school (coordination experience preferred)

IB PYP training and familiarity with IB documentation, planning, and evaluation

Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organisational skills

Excellent communication in English (written and spoken)

Commitment to inclusive, student-centred learning and inquiry-based teaching

Passion for collaborative leadership and whole-child development
