About the Role

This position is central to shaping the AI strategy and data capabilities of a rapidly growing technology startup focused on transforming how manufacturers understand and address complex Scope 3 supply chain emissions. The organization (based in Ireland) builds AI-driven solutions that simplify fragmented data, empower accurate and auditable carbon reporting, and turn sustainability insights into operational advantages.

As the Lead of AI, you will be responsible for guiding both the strategic direction and hands-on execution of the company’s AI initiatives. The title and scope will be adapted to match your experience and level of impact.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Define the overarching AI and data science vision, roadmap, and priorities in close collaboration with the executive team.

Drive decisions related to methodology, infrastructure, model governance, and team direction.

Mentor and scale the data science function while establishing technical standards and best practices.

Assess emerging AI technologies and identify initiatives that provide maximum business value.

Execution & Delivery

Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of AI and machine learning models.

Work with large, diverse, and complex datasets across multiple industries and data sources.

Convert complex data into actionable insights and integrate AI-driven capabilities into the product.

Partner closely with engineering, product, and domain experts to ensure alignment between technical solutions and business objectives.

What We’re Looking For

Core Skills & Experience

5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or Applied Statistics.

Deep expertise in machine learning, AI methodologies, and statistical modeling.

Strong proficiency with modern ML frameworks such as Python, PyTorch, and TensorFlow.

Experience deploying models to production and managing end-to-end ML pipelines.

Ability to balance strategic decision-making with hands-on technical execution.

Strong communication skills, particularly in explaining AI concepts and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Leadership & Startup Mindset

Strategic thinker capable of setting AI direction while actively contributing to high-priority deliverables.

Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environments.

Skilled at prioritizing initiatives that optimize product and business outcomes.

Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in resource-constrained settings and adapt quickly to change.

Nice-to-Have Experience

Prior experience working in an early-stage startup or dynamic team environment.

Familiarity with ESG, sustainability, or supply chain data.

Experience integrating data from enterprise systems such as ERP or PLM tools.

Knowledge of carbon accounting frameworks or environmental data management.
