Role Description
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Back-End Java Software Engineer with strong expertise in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) to develop, optimize, and maintain enterprise-grade web applications. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Java backend development, AEM Sites and Assets, integrations, CI / CD workflows, and cloud deployments.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop scalable, secure, and high-performance backend solutions using AEM, Java, Sling, HTL / Sightly, and OSGi.
- Build and extend AEM components, templates, workflows, and experience fragments.
- Integrate AEM with enterprise systems, REST APIs, GraphQL, and third-party platforms.
- Configure and maintain AEM environments including local, development, QA, staging, and production.
- Design and implement CI / CD pipelines and manage deployments across environments.
- Conduct code reviews and contribute to architectural improvements and refactoring.
- Collaborate with front-end developers and cross-functional teams to support complex requirements.
- Provide technical troubleshooting, performance optimization, and client support.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including configuration guides and runbooks.
- Work within Scrum methodology to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
Required Skills and Experience
Seven to nine years of experience in Java development using HTL / Sightly, JDBC, Apache Sling, and Apache Felix.Three to five years of hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager Sites and Assets (DAM).Strong understanding of AEM foundational concepts such as templates, components, widgets, workflows, and experience fragments.Ability to configure and support AEM environments in different stages of the development lifecycle.Experience with CI / CD tools and automated deployment workflows.Proficiency in Git for version control and collaboration.Experience with unit testing frameworks and test-driven development.Practical knowledge of GraphQL and RESTful API integrations.Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, caching mechanisms, and load balancing.Strong communication and collaboration skills in Agile and Scrum environments.
