We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Head of Government & Institutional Projects to drive significant sales and market share expansion within the Indian Railway, Government, and Large Institutional Project sectors. The ideal candidate will possess deep domain expertise in the steel industry and a proven track record of securing and managing large-scale, complex government contracts across India. This is a senior leadership role responsible for strategy, business development, tendering, and high-level government liaison.
About the Role
The Head of Government & Institutional Projects will be responsible for driving significant sales and market share expansion within the Indian Railway , Government, and Large Institutional Project sectors.
Responsibilities
Strategic Sales & Business Development
Develop and execute a comprehensive Pan-India sales strategy specifically targeting projects in the Indian Railway.
Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities, maintaining a robust pipeline of high-value, long-term government and institutional projects.
Achieve aggressive sales targets and contribute significantly to the organization’s overall revenue growth from the project segment.
Project Tendering & Management
Lead the entire tendering process from initial inquiry to final contract award, ensuring compliance with all government and institutional procurement norms.
Oversee the preparation of technically and commercially sound bids, working closely with finance, legal, and technical teams.
Government Liaison & Relationship Building
Establish and maintain high-level strategic relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within Indian Railways, various central and state government ministries, PSUs, and institutional bodies.
Act as the primary point of contact for all government-related project queries and ensure proactive engagement to resolve any potential issues.
Effectively communicate the company's value proposition and product specifications to meet project requirements and secure approvals.
Qualifications
Experience | Minimum 15 years of total experience, primarily within the Steel manufacturing industry.
Domain Expertise | Must have demonstrable, significant experience in Railway Project Sales, Large Institutional Project Sales.
Education | Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical preferred) or Business Administration. An MBA is a plus.
