About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Technical Team Lead (MERN + AWS) with 7+ years of hands-on engineering experience and strong leadership capabilities. You will guide a high-performing engineering team, enforce engineering best practices, and architect scalable systems powering a platform used by millions.

This role suits someone who thrives in high-ownership environments, enjoys solving complex distributed systems challenges, and leads with technical depth and clarity.

Non-Negotiable Requirements (Must-Have Experience)

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet all of the following :

  • Video playback and streaming systems : Built or maintained streaming workflows, video players, or transcoding pipelines at production scale.
  • Handled millions of Monthly Active Users (MAUs) : Experience working on platforms with extremely high traffic, concurrency, and throughput demands.
  • Payments Infrastructure at Scale : Deep experience integrating and scaling payment systems, gateways, and transaction flows with high reliability.

Key Responsibilities Engineering Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of software engineers while ensuring best-in-class engineering delivery.
  • Take complete ownership of code quality, maintainability, and architectural consistency.
  • Conduct detailed PR reviews and uphold engineering standards.

    • Architecture & Systems Design

  • Architect scalable, maintainable platform components with long-term product evolution in mind.
  • Audit and optimize existing codebases to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.

    • Support & Collaboration

  • Support developers in solving technical challenges and unblock them when needed.
  • Maintain clear, comprehensive technical documentation across features and systems.

    • Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of hands-on development experience with the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js).
  • Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams .
  • Strong expertise in AWS services , cloud-native architectures, and distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated excellence in code reviews , coding standards, and quality engineering practices.
  • Ability to architect scalable, robust, and maintainable systems.
  • Experience delivering features and product enhancements focused on long-term quality and reliability.

    • Preferred Skills (Good to Have)

  • Experience working with payment gateways and complex transaction flows.
  • Familiarity with video streaming, players, and transcoding workflows (though this is also part of Non-Negotiables for this role).
