Job Description : Shift In-Charge – Continuous Annealing Pickling Line (CAPL)
Role Overview
The Shift In-Charge is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end operation of the Continuous Annealing Pickling Line (CAPL) during assigned shifts. The role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality production while leading a team and coordinating with cross-functional departments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Oversight
Manage and monitor the Continuous Annealing Pickling Line during the shift to ensure smooth, uninterrupted, and efficient production.
Maintain operational continuity by addressing process deviations promptly.
2. Quality Compliance
Adhere to grade-wise Quality Plans and maintain line parameters to ensure consistent product quality.
Conduct in-process quality checks and take corrective actions when needed.
3. Technical Expertise
Utilize knowledge of MIG welding for strip joining and support technical interventions during breakdowns.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving operational or mechanical issues.
4. Maintenance Coordination
Work closely with the maintenance team to identify, report, and resolve equipment-related problems.
Support and participate in planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities to minimize downtime.
5. Safety & Standards
Ensure strict compliance with safety protocols, operational SOPs, and quality standards.
Promote and maintain a safe working environment, fostering a strong safety culture within the team.
Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and norms.
6. Team Leadership
Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of 10+ members during the shift.
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Plan and allocate manpower effectively to meet production targets.
7. Efficiency & Optimization
Identify opportunities for energy saving, waste reduction, and process optimization.
Support initiatives aimed at improving productivity and reducing operational costs.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and team-management capabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in SAP and basic computer applications (MS Office, reporting tools).
Hands-on knowledge of MIG welding and basic maintenance practices.
Ability to work under pressure and handle real-time operational challenges.
Qualifications
Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical / Metallurgy / Electrical / Production Engineering (as applicable).
Experience in steel processing lines, CAPL, or similar continuous manufacturing environments is preferred.
