Role Summary
This role is responsible for designing, deploying, securing, and managing on-premise infrastructure that includes virtualization (VMware ESXi / VCF), Kubernetes-based container platforms, enterprise Linux systems, networking, and hardware infrastructure. The engineer ensure high availability, performance, automation, and operational stability across the full stack : hardware virtualization OS containers networking.

Detailed Roles & Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Virtualization Engineering
Design, implement, and manage VMware ESXi, vCenter, and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments.
Configure and optimize virtualization networking using VMware NSX.
Perform capacity planning, resource optimization, and HA / DR configuration for virtualized environments.
Manage lifecycle operations such as hardware provisioning, firmware updates, patching, and cluster upgrades.
Kubernetes & Container Platform Engineering
Deploy, configure, and maintain Kubernetes clusters (on-prem or bare-metal).
Create and manage container orchestration environments, storage classes, networking, and security policies.
Troubleshoot Kubernetes cluster issues across pods, nodes, and control plane.
Integrate Kubernetes with CI / CD pipelines or automation frameworks if applicable
Linux Systems Engineering
Manage and harden Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).
Perform OS patching, log analysis, performance tuning, and incident resolution.
Automate OS tasks using shell scripts or configuration management tools
Networking & Security
Configure and troubleshoot networking across virtualization, Kubernetes, and physical layers.
Implement firewalls, VLANs, routing, and load balancing as needed.
Apply security controls, compliance standards, and access management across systems.
Automation & Scripting
Automate infrastructure tasks using :
o PowerShell
o VMware PowerCLI
o Shell scripting (bash / sh)
Develop automation workflows for provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance operations.
Monitoring, Troubleshooting, and Support
Diagnose issues across hardware, OS, virtualization, network, and Kubernetes layers.
Analyze system logs, performance metrics, and telemetry to prevent outages.
Provide L3 support for critical incidents and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Required Skillset
Core Technical Skills
VMware ESXi, vCenter, VCF, and NSX-V / NSX-T
Kubernetes cluster management (bare-metal preferred)
Linux administration (RHEL, Ubuntu, or equivalent)
Virtualization and container networking fundamentals
PowerShell and VMware PowerCLI scripting
Shell scripting and automation
Knowledge of hardware infrastructure : servers, storage, firmware, ILO / DRAC tools
Troubleshooting tools across OS, network, and virtualization layers
Additional Preferred Skills
Experience with Ansible, Terraform, or other automation frameworks
Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, vROPs)
Exposure to container runtimes (Docker, CRI-O)
Understanding of security hardening best practices
Working knowledge on Windows Server environments (2012, 2016 / 2019 / 2022).
Experience in administering Active Directory, GPOs, and Hyper V virtualisation platforms.
Proficiency in Python for automation and API-based integrations.
