✍️ Accountant Job Description Update : AMS Legal (Chennai)
Key Responsibilities
- Case and Client Accounting :
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all income and expenses associated with each individual client and legal case.
- Track and reconcile bank statements and transactions specific to client funds and case disbursements.
- Expense Management and Reimbursement :
- Process and manage employee expense reimbursements, ensuring compliance with firm policies and maintaining proper documentation.
- Reconcile employee advances and clear outstanding balances.
- Tax and Regulatory Compliance :
- Prepare and file monthly and quarterly Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns.
- Calculate and deposit Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and file the required periodic returns (e.G., Form 26Q, 24Q).
- Ensure all accounting practices adhere to statutory regulations.
- Accounts Receivable Management (Updated Scope) :
- Generate and issue client invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding invoices and outstanding fees.
- Proactively follow up for payment with clients on receivables through professional communication (phone, email).
- General Ledger & Reporting :
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare financial reports for management detailing the profitability and financial status of various cases.
Requirements (Updated)
Education : A qualified Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is mandatory.Experience : Proven experience in accounting, preferably within a professional services firm (e.G., law firm, CA firm).Technical Skills :Strong proficiency and hands-on working knowledge of Tally and Zoho Books is required.In-depth knowledge of Indian taxation, specifically GST and TDS filing procedures.Proficiency in MS Excel.Communication : Proficiency in English (both written and verbal) is essential for effective clientcommunication and internal reporting.
