Job Description
Virtual Environment Management :
Provide support for server virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, ESXi, and Microsoft Hyper-V.
Provision, configure, and m anage virtual machines (VMs), ensuring they meet organizational performance and security standards.
Monitor virtual infrastructure for capacity, performance, and stability, performing regular health checks and addressing any alerts.
Troubleshooting and Incident Management :
Diagnose and resolve escalated issues related to virtualization, such as VM performance issues, connectivity issues, or hypervisor-level problems.
Handle incident escalations from the L1 team, working with cross-functional teams to address issues impacting virtualized environments.
Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues, implementing preventative measures to reduce future incidents.
Performance Optimization :
Optimize VM configurations (e.g., CPU, memory, storage) to align with application requirements and performance standards.
Monitor resource utilization and identify opportunities for performance tuning and workload balancing within virtual clusters.
Assist in capacity planning and scaling of virtual resources based on usage trends and future growth requirements.
Patching and Maintenance :
Perform updates, patches, and maintenance activities on virtual infrastructure and hypervisors to ensure security and compliance.
Schedule and conduct maintenance windows with minimal disruption to business operations, coordinating with IT and user teams.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing :
Document common troubleshooting steps, configurations, and best practices for virtualization environments, creating and maintaining a knowledge base for support teams.
Provide guidance to L1 support teams on standard operating procedures and troubleshooting techniques for basic virtualization issues.
Skills & Qualifications :
Experience with server virtualization technologies, specifically VMware vSphere, ESXi, and Microsoft Hyper-V.
Proficiency in VM provisioning, configuration, and management, including understanding resource allocation, snapshots, and storage.
Familiarity with storage (SAN / NAS) and networking concepts as they relate to virtual environments.
Knowledge of monitoring tools for virtualization (e.g., VMware vRealize Operations, SolarWinds, or Nagios) and experience with performance tuning.
Basic s cripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation of routine tasks and basic troubleshooting.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving complex virtualization issues. Good Experience in Nautanix
Good communication skills in English to document processes, incident resolutions, and knowledge sharing.
Relevant certifications, such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Microsoft Certified : Azure Administrator, are preferred.
