Communication Systems Engineering Lead

Objective :

The SAS & Communication Manager-Tx is responsible for delivering high-quality technical support and prompt resolution for SAS and communication systems in transmission substations, spanning both greenfield and brownfield projects. The role includes supporting substation automation and communication initiatives, performing value engineering, and ensuring seamless Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning of SCADA systems, FOTE, and PLCC systems across thermal and transmission projects. The position demands collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to maintain operational excellence, compliance, and performance standards. The candidate must demonstrate readiness for frequent travel within and outside the country as required.

Ensure seamless project execution by conducting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning of Substation Automation Systems (SAS) and communication systems, adhering to quality standards and project timelines.

Improve operational efficiency by developing and implementing cost-optimized SAS and communication system designs, minimizing downtime and enhancing system reliability.

Enable uninterrupted grid operations by facilitating real-time data transfer from SCADA systems to Load Dispatch Centres (LDCs), ensuring swift troubleshooting and timely issue resolution.

Governance, Compliance, and Risk Management :

Strengthen OT cybersecurity postures by supporting the implementation and auditing of cybersecurity procedures and ensuring alignment with industry standards across all sites.

Enhance compliance by upgrading and modifying SAS and associated systems in line with regulatory guidelines, ensuring risk mitigation and operational integrity.

Maintain accuracy and adherence to standards by reviewing OEM engineering documents, BOQs, and technical specifications, aligning with Indian and international best practices.

Technology and Innovation :

Enhance safety and system reliability by designing solution architectures for SCADA and communication systems, integrating advanced protocols like GOOSE for seamless performance.

Reduce operational costs by validating and implementing innovative automation and communication solutions, optimizing system efficiency and resource utilization.

Improve system performance by leveraging advanced diagnostic tools and analytics to generate actionable insights, enabling faster issue resolution and operational improvements.

Stakeholder Management :

Ensure seamless implementation of automation and communication solutions by fostering collaboration between engineering, procurement, and operational teams to align project goals and execution timelines.

Drive system upgrades and enhancements by building trusted partnerships with external stakeholders, ensuring alignment on cybersecurity practices and delivering mutually beneficial outcomes.
