Position : DMSII Database Administrator
Experience : 4-6 years (relevant in DMSII / Unisys Mainframe environment)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases.
- Monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes.
- Manage sets, subsets, and indexes to ensure efficient data access.
- Handle database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures.
- Support schema changes and perform database reorganizations as required.
- Assist in capacity planning and ensure data integrity across environments.
- Work closely with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues.
- Participate in disaster recovery testing and ensure compliance with backup policies.
- Implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls.
- Document DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.Basic experience in ODBC / JDBC integration with DMSII (nice to have).Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.Good communication and problem-solving skills.Willingness to work in rotational support shifts (if required).Nice to Have
Exposure to modernization projects (migrating from DMSII to RDBMS / cloud).Knowledge of SQL / relational databases for cross-skill flexibility.Experience in automation scripts for monitoring or DBA tasks.
