Manager Workers Compensation & Injury Management
Afford is seeking an experienced and proactive Injury Management & Workers Compensation Manager to oversee the organisation’s workers compensation claims and injury management programs. You will also drive continuous improvement in injury prevention and overall wellbeing.
You will be responsible for :
- Overseeing the workers' compensation management process, including early intervention, injury management, rehabilitation, and return-to-work services, to ensure best practices and successful return-to-work outcomes.
- Serving as the Return to Work (RTW) Coordinator, managing a portfolio of injury cases and collaborating with employees, practitioners, and line managers to facilitate recovery and return-to-work planning, including on-site visits and case conferences.
- Liaising with injured employees, caregivers, line managers, payroll representatives, treating health professionals, and insurance representatives to ensure support and proper administration processes.
- Managing the timely submission of workers' compensation claims, ensuring compliance with insurance conditions
- In collaboration with Payroll, managing weekly workers' compensation payments in scheme states, ensuring compliance with legislation and agreements, including payment reconciliation and auditing.
- Providing expert guidance to line managers on workplace injury management.
- In collaboration with the Chief People & Brand Officer regularly review Afford's workers' compensation arrangements against available options to ensure cost-effectiveness and manage and negotiate premium renewals on the most favourable terms.
- Providing effective and timely reporting on cost impacts on premiums, claims trends, benchmarking, and premium forecasting.
- Overseeing governance, including statutory reporting, such as annual wage declarations and wage audits.
About you :
In addition to your passion for people and safety, we see you as having
Tertiary qualification(s) in a health / injury management discipline (e.g., Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, Nursing, or Psychology) or related field experienceDeep technical knowledge and understanding of workers' compensation and injury management laws, codes, standards, and associated obligationsExtensive experience managing workers' compensation and injury management across multi-site and multi-jurisdictional environmentsProven track record in driving significant improvements in workers' compensation claims, liabilities, processes, and systemsDemonstrated ability to liaise, advise, and negotiate effectively with key stakeholders, including management, staff, regulators, and industrial organisationsReturn to Work (RTW) Certification in relevant jurisdictionsExperience using SOLV-Injury is preferredHigh-level numerical and analytical skills, along with well-structured written and communication skillsProven ability to work autonomously, multi-task, and prioritise workExperience working with LPR workers' compensation insurance schemes is desirableStrong ability to coach, advise, and guide people leadersStrong personal commitment to working in a for purpose organisationDemonstrated ability to deliver high quality customer focussed services.Excellent communication, and interpersonal skillsCurrent ‘C’ class driver’s licence.About the Australian Foundation for Disability (Afford)
