Job Description :

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mainframe Tester with a strong focus on test automation using Tricentis TOSCA. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our mainframe applications through comprehensive testing strategies and the implementation of automated test scripts using TOSCA.

You will work closely with development teams, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, design test scenarios, execute tests, and identify and track defects. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your mainframe testing expertise and automation skills in a critical environment.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, and test cases for mainframe applications based on business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Perform various types of testing on mainframe systems, including functional testing, integration testing, system testing, regression testing, and performance testing.
  • Analyze mainframe application behavior, data flows, and system interactions to identify potential defects and areas for improvement.
  • Execute test cases manually and analyze test results, documenting any discrepancies or defects with clear and concise details.
  • Utilize mainframe testing tools and techniques effectively.
  • Understand mainframe environments, including TSO / ISPF, JCL, VSAM, DB2 (or other mainframe databases), and related technologies.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Tricentis TOSCA for mainframe applications.
  • Utilize TOSCA modules, test case design, and execution functionalities to create efficient and robust automated test suites.
  • Integrate TOSCA with the mainframe environment and ensure proper configuration for test execution.
  • Analyze automation feasibility for various mainframe functionalities and prioritize automation efforts.
  • Execute automated test scripts, analyze automation results, and report on test execution status.
  • Identify and implement improvements to the automation framework and test scripts for better efficiency and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with the automation team to ensure adherence to automation standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of test strategies and test plans for mainframe projects, incorporating automation where appropriate.
  • Identify test data requirements and work with relevant teams to ensure the availability of quality test data.
  • Estimate testing effort and timelines for both manual and automated testing activities.
  • Identify, log, and track defects using a defect management tool, providing detailed information and steps to reproduce.
  • Participate in defect triage meetings and work with development teams to ensure timely resolution of defects.
  • Perform retesting and regression testing to verify defect fixes.
  • Work closely with development teams, business analysts, and other stakeholders throughout the testing lifecycle.
  • Communicate test progress, results, and any potential risks or issues to the project team.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide testing updates.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest testing methodologies, tools, and best practices, particularly in mainframe testing and TOSCA automation.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve testing processes and efficiency.

Qualifications :

  • Proven experience in testing mainframe applications across various testing phases (functional, integration, system, regression).
  • Strong understanding of mainframe technologies and environments (TSO / ISPF, JCL, VSAM, DB2 or other mainframe databases).
  • Hands-on experience in designing, developing, and executing automated test scripts using Tricentis TOSCA.
  • Proficiency in using TOSCA modules, test case design, and execution functionalities.
  • Experience in integrating TOSCA with mainframe applications.
  • Solid understanding of software testing methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience with defect management tools (e.g., Jira, HP ALM).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
