Job description

The Dental Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations within the dental lab, including supervising the production of dental prosthetics, ensuring high-quality standards, managing the lab staff, and maintaining equipment and materials. The role involves direct communication with dental professionals, managing lab inventory, and ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within the set quality standards.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Team Leadership & Supervision :
  • Lead, train, and supervise a team of dental technicians and lab assistants.
  • Schedule shifts and manage day-to-day activities of the lab team.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and facilitate skill development for lab staff.
  • Production Management :
  • Oversee the manufacturing of dental prosthetics such as crowns, bridges, dentures, implants, and other dental devices.
  • Ensure all products meet high-quality standards and comply with industry regulations.
  • Manage production timelines and ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Inventory & Equipment Management :
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and dental supplies.
  • Order supplies and ensure the lab is stocked with the necessary materials for smooth operations.
  • Oversee the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Quality Control :
  • Implement quality control procedures to ensure all products are of the highest standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with products or equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Customer Relations :
  • Maintain positive relationships with dental practitioners and other stakeholders.
  • Address and resolve any client concerns or complaints regarding the products or services.
  • Administrative Duties :
  • Maintain lab documentation, including work orders, lab reports, and billing.
  • Ensure timely reporting of performance metrics to management.
  • Prepare and manage the lab’s budget and financial records.
  • Training & Development :
  • Organize training programs for new lab technologies, techniques, and processes.
  • Promote professional development and continuous learning within the lab team.
  • Health and Safety Compliance :
  • Ensure the lab adheres to all local, state, and national health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Qualifications :

  • Educational Requirements :
  • A degree or diploma in Dental Technology or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in laboratory management or leadership are an advantage.
  • Experience :
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a dental lab, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong experience with dental materials and lab equipment.
  • Skills :
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with CAD / CAM technology and dental lab software is an advantage.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of dental industry standards and regulations.
