Job description

Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field

Site Investigation :

Conduct geological surveys to assess the terrain and identify potential challenges for tunnel construction.
Analyze soil and rock samples to determine their composition and suitability for tunneling.

TBM Tunnel Design :

Collaborate with engineers to contribute geological expertise in designing tunnels suitable for TBM excavation.

Provide input on tunnel alignment and support systems based on geological conditions.

Risk Assessment :

Identify and assess geological risks such as ground instability, water ingress, and other potential hazards.

Develop mitigation strategies to address geological challenges during tunneling.

Data Collection and Analysis :

Monitor and record geological data during TBM tunneling operations.

Analyze data to make real-time decisions and adjustments to the tunneling process.

Geotechnical Mapping :

Create detailed geotechnical maps of the tunnel route, highlighting variations in soil and rock types.

Use mapping data to optimize TBM performance and ensure safe tunnel construction.

Quality Control :

Implement quality control measures to ensure tunnel construction aligns with geological specifications.

Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any geological issues affecting tunnel integrity.

Collaboration :

Work closely with construction teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide geological insights and support.

Communicate effectively to ensure all parties are informed about geological aspects of the project.

Documentation :

Maintain accurate records of geological findings, test results, and other relevant data.

Prepare reports detailing geological conditions and their impact on tunneling activities.
