Responsibilities
- To support and maintain Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL database instances
- To provide DBA Support to project, development and infrastructure teams
- To ensure that all SLA’s are maintained
- Respond to all Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL related incidents
- Assist the team with proactive improvements to internal processes
- Mentoring and coaching other members of the team
- To participate in the change control process
- To participate in the team’s out-of-hours on-call support rota
Specialized Skills
Extensive database administration experience in Oracle. Ideally the applicant will have at least 4+ years’ experience working with Oracle and MySQL, with at least 2 years in a production environmentExtensive experience of Linux / UNIX Operating SystemsExperience of working with High Availability solutions such as Oracle RAC, MySQL NDB, Inorb, DRBDWorking knowledge of Oracle Dataguard and ASMWorking knowledge of MySQL replication topologies, such as master / master, master / slaveExperience with Disaster Recovery solutions.A good understanding of virtualization technologiesA good understanding of storage technologiesAn aptitude for problem-solving in a multi-disciplinary environmentExcellent written and oral communication skillsFlexibility as regards to working hoursProficient in EnglishCertification
Oracle certification such as OCA, OCE, OCP
MySQL certification
Knowledge of other RDBMS such as PostgreSQL, Progress, DB2,and MS SQL Server
Experience working with SAN’s, NAS’s and DAS devices for the purpose of database storage
Understanding of ITIL processes
Knowledge of Bash & SQL
Skills in development, such as PowerShell, VB or would be beneficial
Any knowledge of NoSQL such as MongoDB would be advantageous
