Role Overview

The Medical Oncologist will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing various types of cancer in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role will involve formulating personalized treatment plans, administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and supporting patients through their cancer journey. The Medical Oncologist will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and contribute to the hospital’s clinical research initiatives in oncology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage all stages of cancer, including early-stage to advanced cancers, through comprehensive evaluation and diagnostic tools.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormone therapy.
  • Manage the side effects and complications of cancer treatments, ensuring optimal patient quality of life.
  • Provide supportive care to cancer patients, including pain management, palliative care, and psychosocial support.
  • Monitor patients' progress through regular follow-ups, imaging, and laboratory tests.
  • Work closely with other specialists, including surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and palliative care teams to provide comprehensive cancer care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings to discuss complex cases and define optimal treatment strategies.
  • Educate patients and their families about their cancer diagnosis, treatment options, and prevention strategies.
  • Participate in continuing medical education programs, conferences, and workshops.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed patient records, including diagnostic reports, treatment plans, progress notes, and follow-up documentation.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, ethical guidelines, and quality control protocols.

Skills and Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of cancer treatment modalities, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies.
  • Strong clinical judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient interactions, particularly in delivering sensitive diagnoses and treatment options.
  • Compassionate, empathetic approach toward patient care.
  • Qualifications and Experience

  • MD / DM Medical Oncology
  • Minimum of 1–5 years of experience
  • Proven expertise in administering chemotherapy and other oncological treatments, along with the management of their side effects.
