Key Responsibilities
We are looking for an Ideation Leader role in the Idea & Incubation department of PT&D – Digital Energy Solutions, located in Chennai. The is a key support function role in the Idea & Incubation Office of PT&D - Digital Solutions, where you will contribute to innovations through futuristic and disruptive Idea generation, idea incubation, collaborating with universities and startups and creating huge impacts to the business in terms of bringing disruptive products and solutions for the long-term future. Key responsibilities for this role are as follows :
Ideation Strategy & Direction
- Lead a team on 5 to 6 Ideation Engineers and drive disruptive idea generation for the Business
- Prepare high level Idea incubation roadmaps and plans by working with business operations team
- Explore multiple options to pathways for the Ideation and suggest the potential options for DS to pursue
- Collaborate with Business Segments and Sales team to understand key customer points / issues / stories and translate it into well-defined problem statements to develop innovative ideas and solutions.
- Explore & define pathways for Ideation Challenges, Hackathons, University collaborations, DST, Govt. collaborations
- Collaborate with Market Intelligence team and get market insights for various ideas generated by the team
- Drive customer partnered Ideation Projects by collaborating with Regional Leaders.
- Create strong differentiation for DES by developing new and disruptive ideas in the energy domain
- Drive Ideation Challenges / Hackathons by collaborating with Universities / Startups every year
- Perform techno-commercial feasibility study for idea realization, and coordinate Ideation Gate Review Meetings
- Identify Funds / Grants for DES to pursue and make proposal for achieving the same in the areas of new innovation.
- Collaborate with Market Intelligence Team to bring market insights on new ideas and proposals.
- Collaborate with Social Media Communication team for Ideation Challenge Campaigns and publishing relevant knowledge articles from the Ideation Team.
Team Management
Lead & Manage day to day activities and strategic direction of DS Ideation teamFoster the culture of innovative mindset across DS organization for idea generation leading into resource developmentManaging Ideation Engineers in the team, dealing with issues, conflicts and assigning them prioritiesManage training and competency development of the team members.Inspire and motivate the Idea incubation teams to deliver innovative and exciting solutions with an appropriate sense of urgencySet Performance Goals and Periodically review and track the progress, and conduct performance appraisalsContinuously coach & mentor team members and deliver their best performance all the timeMonitor performance of the team, identify the competency gaps and organize the required trainings by collaborating with Training Department.Manage Different Ideation Programs as individual projects and track and monitorProgram & Process Management
Streamline Idea generation process and workflows and define performance KPIs and SLAsReport the performance metrics and KPIs to the management on a regular basis.Apply Design Thinking Process in the Idea Generation ProcessTrack and Monitor day to day activities of various Ideation programs and projects.Prepare Statement of Work with detailed project plan for implementing the shortlisted ideation projectsIdentify the risks & constraints and proactively monitor it and apply required risk management strategiesEstablish and execute ideation process with clear goals & objectives duly supported by people, process and tools.Finance & Budget Management
Manage recurrent and annual capital budget for the Ideation unit and forecast annual budget required for the teamContributing to the financial planning and risk management process by producing business cases and financial models to support new requirements for Ideation & Incubation.Track and Monitor Budget Utilization and periodically report to the ManagementProactively work with vendors and partners to deliver CAPEX / OPEX items planned for the yearQualifications Required :
Minimum 15 years of industry experience.Experience working in Utilities, Energy and Power (T&D Domain) will be a plus.Leading R&D Innovation for global teams for OEMs or Govt.,BE / BTech / ME / MTech in CSE or ITOthers :
3 - 5 years of experience working in Research & Innovation TeamExperience leading and managing R&D Teams and projects and driving innovation for the business growthGood visibility in Industry Forums, Standard bodiesExperience in driving Innovation Programs such as Ideation Challenge / HackathonsCreative & Open MindsetExcellent oral and written skills in English.Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize.Ability to work in matrix reporting structure.Flexible to manage multi-cultural work force.
