Job Purpose

Responsible for directing foundational and strategic privacy compliance responsibilities with consistent excellence that support the team and management, as well as ensuring a strong ethical culture in global locations consistent with the enterprise Ethics program and the Elevance Health Code of conduct.

Job Responsibility

Primary duties to include, but are not limited to :

  • Directs privacy projects, initiatives, regulatory sanctions, executive-sponsored privacy initiatives, regulatory audits or exams, internal audits, accreditations, on-site reviews, risk assessments; audit planning, conducting mock audits, conducting audit training, managing audit evidence preparation, assessing audit preparedness.
  • Leads privacy compliance monitoring to identify process gaps, validate compliance levels, map processes, draft corrective actions / remediation plans, oversee implementation of corrective actions, prepare reports / presentations.
  • Leads complex ethics and privacy investigations and documents findings.
  • Develops strategic plans, makes recommendations to leadership.
  • Develops strong relationships with key leaders (at an enterprise level) to identify and address compliance risks and failures; manage action plans designed to fully mitigate risk(s) and adherence to the Elevance Health Code of Conduct
  • Travels to worksite and other locations as necessary.
  • Operate in highly matrixed environment, effectively utilize leadership characteristics to ensure global culture and values while supporting and facilitating local business initiatives.
  • Conduct complex ethics investigations where allegations of misconduct exist.
  • Prepare reports for presentation to senior management and committees, including reporting of program metrics and trends.

Qualification

Requires a BA / BS and minimum of 8 years health care, regulatory, ethics, compliance or privacy experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Experience

Experience in implementing Ethics and / or Compliance programs, or legal experience; or any combination.

Minimum 8 years of regulatory, ethics, compliance or privacy experience. Ability to work independently in complex scenarios and manage crisis. High levels of integrity and ability to maintain absolute confidentiality wherever required. Detailed knowledge of the U.S. Federal Sentencing Guidelines and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA. Good awareness of global Privacy and regulatory frameworks will be added advantage.

Knowledge and Competencies

Experience supporting an effective ethics and compliance program at a multi-national organization.

Proficient understanding of international privacy laws, including GDPR (EU), the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (India), and the Data Privacy Act (Philippines).

Significant experience investigating allegations of violations of the code of conduct.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex and / or confidential information through written reports and presentations, and communicate those findings with all levels of management.

Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively in a global ethics program and highly matrixed environment.

Knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to managing risk in emerging markets including among other things, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, UK Bribery Act, anti-money laundering, and economic sanctions.
