Job description

You will be part of our global Client Service Risk (CSR) function, based in one of our EEMA or Asian offices. CSR’s mission is to enable McKinsey's client impact and innovation, while managing risks to our firm, our clients, and our people. This opportunity involves deep interaction with stakeholders across the Risk function and the firm as a whole.

You will assess the risk profile of collaboration-related engagements that come up for review. You will assist CSR colleagues with preparing briefing materials for risk committee consideration of higher risk engagements, particularly where firm policies and risk appetites are not yet clear about the preferred risk stance.

You will partner closely with and integrate advice from across firm functions (including Legal, Compliance, and Anti-Corruption) and consulting practices to provide counsel on multi-faceted issues. You will develop and implement best practices for operational risk including requirements related to McKinsey’s risk appetite, third-party risks / liability, anticorruption concerns, and delivery of client impact. You will support program development and delivery of priority initiatives and matters, including related to internal systems, processes, and standard operating procedures.

You will educate colleagues in EEMA, Asia, and the broader firm on third-party collaborations and acquisitions, and support knowledge sharing initiatives across the firm as they relate to these risk areas. You will also have opportunities to cultivate other areas of interest and capability within the broader Risk team depending on interest and the needs of the function.

  • Top academic credentials and graduate degree preferred, demonstrated intellectual curiosity through professional training, advanced degree, or professional impact
  • 4+ years of professional experience in consulting / professional services, law, risk or other advisory role
  • Strong analytical, issue-spotting and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to handle complex, sensitive issues
  • Working knowledge and interest in building expertise in third-party-related risks (anticorruption, data privacy, procurement, etc.)
  • Strong project management skills with experience working on projects involving integrating perspective from numerous stakeholders, assessing risk profiles and relevant policies, and delivering holistic advice
  • Familiarity with some of the key risk issues faced by a global consulting firm (e.g., staffing and organizational conflicts, reputational risk, risk boundaries, etc.)
  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative attitude, with interest and aptitude for working as part of a diverse global team
  • Excellent judgment and exceptional integrity, as well as distinctive interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Ability to work across all levels of seniority, cultivating trust-based, peer-counsellor relationships
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, changing environment; comfort and credibility in challenging discussions with senior colleagues, balancing robustness, persistence, flexibility, humility, tact, and calmness under pressure
  • Outstanding English in written and oral communication skills, including clear and concise writing and editorial skills, with strong personal presence and credibility
