Role Overview
We are seeking a GIS Analyst to join our Content Team, focused on U.S. indirect tax. You will help map the intricacies of tax jurisdictions. By creating and maintaining precise geospatial data, you’ll contribute to our mission of making regulatory hurdles seamless. Your role will involve defining and refining custom polygons, maintaining GIS databases, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS data into our tax calculation engine. Your expertise will directly shape the future of tax technology by making tax jurisdictions clearer and helping businesses navigate regulatory challenges.

Key Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain geospatial data for U.S. indirect tax jurisdictions, aligning with local, county, state, and special taxing districts.
- Develop custom polygons for tax jurisdiction boundary definitions, ensuring accuracy in geographic-based tax rate calculations.
- Manage and enhance GIS databases, ensuring they remain up-to-date with tax jurisdiction changes and boundary adjustments.
- Collaborate with tax research, compliance, and product development teams to integrate GIS data into tax calculation solutions.
- Monitor changes in tax jurisdiction boundaries and update GIS data in a timely manner to ensure continued compliance.
- Perform spatial analysis to support tax compliance solutions, providing accurate tax rates based on geolocation.
- Document procedures, metadata, and create reports on geospatial data updates for internal and external stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot geospatial data-related issues and perform quality control checks to ensure data integrity.
- Assist in integrating GIS data into tax software products, including collaboration with development teams on GIS web services and APIs.
Requirements
3+ years of experience working with GIS, preferably in the U.S. indirect tax domain.Proven experience in creating and editing custom polygons for tax jurisdiction mapping.Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and experience with geospatial data management.Strong understanding of U.S. Sales and Use Tax and their geographical implications on tax jurisdictions.Experience working with geospatial data formats, databases, and mapping tools.Familiarity with GIS web services and APIs for integrating spatial data into software platforms.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for accurate spatial data processing.Excellent communication skills for documenting processes, metadata, and providing geospatial data updates.Ability to work collaboratively across teams, including tax research, compliance, and product development.Knowledge of U.S. tax legislation and its relationship with geospatial jurisdictions.While a college degree is not required, candidates with relevant qualifications or equivalent experience are welcome.Our Culture
